Town & Country Credit Union Board Member Jay Hight, age 53, passed away on Thursday, November 23, 2023 after a short battle with esophageal cancer. Jay joined the Town & Country Board of Directors in March of 2019. He was currently serving his second term when he passed away.
“Jay truly cared about our members, our credit union and the Minot community. With his charismatic personality and business savvy, he was not only a great board member, but also a great colleague and friend,” said President/CEO Brad Houle. “Our hearts go out to his family and all those who cared for him as they grieve his loss.”
Jay served as the president of Hight Construction since 2001. Hight Construction was established in 1982 by his father, LaVerne Hight, and Jay took over as sole owner of the company in 2012. Over the past 40 years, Hight Construction became a leading commercial general contractor in Northwest North Dakota, completing many notable projects including remodel work at the credit union’s main location in Minot, North Dakota.
Jay not only followed his father’s footsteps in business, but also in board service. LaVerne Hight also served as a member of the Board of Directors of Town & Country Credit Union from 1979-1988, playing an integral part in the credit union's history. During Jay’s nearly five years on the Board, he helped to lead Town & Country through the opening of the Dakota Square location in Minot, navigating the COVID-19 pandemic, and a CEO search, among other things.
